For which violations are penalty points calculated, and when can one be deprived of the right to drive?
In Uzbekistan, the penalty points system came into effect on June 1, 2025. Most drivers think: "If I accumulate 12 points, I will be deprived of my license." In reality, the limit is different, the decision is made by the court, and points are not always assigned to the person who was driving the vehicle. We will discuss which violations incur points, how many points are given for each violation, when they are cleared, and what to do if points are calculated incorrectly.

For which violations are penalty points calculated, and when can a driver be deprived of their driving license?
Points do not replace the fine. They are calculated along with the usual punishment.
For each violation, from 0.2 to 2 points are given. No more than 2 points are calculated at one time.
Points are not given for all violations of the Traffic Rules, but for the violations listed in Article 34¹ of the Code of Administrative Responsibility.
Paying the fine does not write off the points. Even if it was paid with a discount on the very first day.
An SMS warning is sent when 8 points are accumulated.
The driving license is at risk not at 12 points, but when the sum of points exceeds 12 points.
The court deprives of the driving license, not the system or the inspector. The period of deprivation based on points cannot be less than 6 months.
If there is no new point-bearing violation for half a year, 2 points are deducted.
For a violation recorded by a camera, the points can be assigned to the actual driver, but for this, the transfer of the vehicle to another person must be officially registered.
Driving under the influence and refusing to undergo a medical examination lead to immediate deprivation of the license without any points.
Points do not replace the fine. The driver receives the main punishment for the violation under the Code of Administrative Responsibility — a fine or a warning. Additionally, if this article is included in the list for which points are given, they receive from 0.2 to 2 points.
The maximum amount for one violation is 2 points. No matter how serious the violation is, no more points than that will be calculated.
Paying the fine does not cancel the points. These are two different things. Even if you pay 100, 70, or 50 percent of the fine, the points remain on the record.
