For the first time, the Yashil Uyim eco-festival will be held in Bukhara
On October 31, with the financial support of the European Union, the Yashil Uyim eco-festival will take place in Bukhara for the first time, the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan informed Gazeta.
The event is organized as part of "Green Diplomacy Week". Its goal is to introduce participants to environmental protection methods and to assist in integrating ecological habits into daily life.
The festival will be held on the grounds of the Plove restaurant (3 Tagbandbafon Street). The main area designed for adults and youth will start operating at 12:00 with a DJ set and prize games.
At 13:00, sign language interpreter Ezoza Ahmedova will conduct an introductory session on inclusive communication. This will be followed by a collective game titled "City of Our Dreams", where participants can imagine the city they would like to live in.
At 15:00, eco-activist, initiator, and organizer of the festival Motabar Khushvaqtova will hold an interactive session on the topic "Is plastic not a problem?". Issues related to plastic waste and possibilities for resolving them will be discussed.
In parallel, journalist and documentary filmmaker Shahzoda Mirakova, who participated in the EU Youth Advisory Board in 2023, will lead a discussion in English on the topic "Ecofeminism: Does climate change affect men and women equally?". Participants will discuss the gender aspects of climate change.
In the children's area, scientific experiments, robotics sessions, and games developing neuromotor skills are planned to be organized. Parents can also receive recommendations on preparing a child for school without stress.
From 13:00 to 16:00, visitors can visit the science area and an eco-friendly products fair, participate in a book exchange, and play chess.
Used batteries, used vegetable oil, paper, plastic bags, and aluminum will be accepted at special collection points. According to the organizers, this will help draw attention to waste sorting, recycling, and responsible resource use.
The "Green Diplomacy Week" campaign aims to raise environmental awareness, support climate initiatives, and promote sustainable development. It brings together local communities, civil society, youth, and other partners, the organizers say.
