“Few places in the history of world trade have played as important a role as Samarkand” – Marco Rubio

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a video posted on his social media page, emphasized that Samarkand's historical importance as a global trade crossroads is being restored.

Stating that Washington is expanding its partnerships around the world, in which Uzbekistan plays an important role, he noted that hundreds of American companies have come here for specific agreements and long-term cooperation:

“Few places on Earth have historically played such an important role in global trade and commerce as Samarkand. It is an honor for me to be here today not only to remember history, but also to reflect on opportunities for the future.”

According to Marco Rubio, the U.S. sees great opportunities in trade, science, and technology.

Few places on Earth have historically played such an important role in global trade and commerce as Samarkand.

Earlier, he said that agreements worth billions of dollars were expected to be signed following the visit. He also emphasized that the U.S. is interested in further expanding trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan and the countries of the region.
