Fergana to increase investment to $4.5 billion in 2026

The Fergana Region plans to increase its investment to $4.5 billion by 2026, up from the current $2.7 billion, focusing on high-value-added projects. This was announced by the region's khokim, Khairullo Bazarov, on August 25 during the opening ceremony of new facilities, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to Bazarov, investors from 35 countries are currently working in the Fergana Region. Saudi Arabia is launching projects in the region under the direct orders of the president, and companies from Turkey, Japan, Europe, and the United States are also actively participating.

The regional governor emphasized a change in the region's approach to capital attraction. While previously the region was willing to consider virtually any investment proposal, priority is now given to the quality of projects and the volume of added value created.

"Now we also tell investors that we need turnkey projects with high added value. We are creating the conditions for the development of cluster work," Bazarov noted.

As an example of the new approach, the khokim cited a $30 million project by the South Korean company Hansae Mobility. Its implementation will take place in two phases and will establish production of auto parts for General Motors in the Fergana Region, which currently cost $40 million to import into Uzbekistan.

Another major project is being implemented in Dangara, where a $170 million facility for the production of modern building materials is being established. The first phase of the project, which received $20 million, has already been launched. An additional $150 million is planned for the next two phases.

These new projects were part of a large-scale commissioning of facilities that took place on August 25 in the run-up to the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. Seventy-two major industrial and service projects, as well as 91 social facilities, were commissioned across the country.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, assessing the development of the Fergana Region, noted the changes taking place in the region, including transformations in the districts and changing attitudes of residents. According to him, the growing public demand indicates that people have "awakened," and work in the region must meet these expectations.
