Fergana Region and Tochigi Prefecture Discuss Cooperation
Representatives of Uzbekistan and Japan discussed prospects for developing partnerships between the Fergana region and Tochigi Prefecture in education, agriculture, and other areas.

Uzbek Ambassador to Japan Mukhsinhuja Abdurakhmanov met with Shigeyoshi Masubuchi, Senior Director of the Tochigi Prefectural Government Department, and Fumihiko Kato, former Japanese Ambassador to Uzbekistan. During the talks, the parties discussed opportunities for developing cooperation between Tochigi Prefecture and the Fergana Region, according to Dunyo News Agency.
The Japanese side expressed interest in expanding mutually beneficial partnerships with the Fergana Region, which has a population of 4.2 million and, as noted at the meeting, is demonstrating high rates of socioeconomic development.
The participants focused on identifying priority areas for cooperation between the Fergana Region and Tochigi Prefecture. An exchange of views also took place on the implementation of new joint projects in areas such as personnel training and Japanese language studies, the development of cooperation between higher education institutions, agriculture, education, and labor migration.
