Experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and representatives of the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan held talks on improving the agricultural statistics system.
The FAO experts' visit is scheduled for August 17-21, with the key meeting taking place on August 18, according to the National Statistics Committee.
On August 17, FAO expert Mariana Toteva and FAO regional statistician for Europe and Central Asia Rasmiya Aliyeva visited the National Statistics Committee.
The main objective of the visit is to study and compare existing data and methodologies in agricultural statistics. Particular attention is paid to the development of integrated and modular approaches to the compilation of annual agricultural statistics.
The meeting on August 18 was attended by B. Khamraev, Chairman of the National Statistics Committee, staff from the central office, and FAO experts.
Participants discussed the comparison of data obtained through the agricultural census and regular statistical surveys. The parties also analyzed discrepancies between these sources and their causes.
A separate topic of discussion was the unification of concepts, definitions, classifications, and methodologies used in agricultural statistics. Furthermore, the participants addressed issues of ensuring the consistency, accuracy, and continuity of statistical data.
Particular attention was paid to the application of international experience and FAO methodological approaches to data harmonization in Uzbekistan's national statistical practice. The parties also discussed further steps in this direction.
The FAO experts' visit to the National Statistics Committee will last until August 21.
