Expert recommendations on identifying a pedophile. Where are they located?
Clinical psychologist Elchin Tolibov spoke about the signs of individuals inclined towards pedophilia. According to him, some individuals with pedophilic tendencies strive to be in schools, kindergartens, and other environments where children gather.
"In fact, individuals with a tendency towards pedophilia primarily try to find themselves in that environment more often. For example, areas where there are children: they try to find schools, kindergartens, environments with many children, and tend to work precisely there more often. This is considered one of the first criteria. And as an addition, we can say that people inclined towards pedophilia are often prone to deceitfulness, or it often comes together with other behavioral disorders.
To date, scientists and research have not been able to reveal the exact causes of pedophilia. There are various hypotheses. There is even a theory and research suggesting that people who were themselves subjected to sexual violence in their youth have a higher risk of developing pedophilic tendencies. First and foremost, we must take this into account. Secondly, living in an excessively violent environment. This could be sexual violence, or physical violence. Living in such a violent environment can also strengthen a person's tendency towards pedophilia specifically regarding children.
"Whether violence is related to a behavioral disorder or pedophilia—first of all, we need to separate this. For example, in some cases, a person may commit such acts while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. These situations must also be distinguished from one another, because they have separate diagnoses and diagnostic criteria," says the clinical psychologist.
