European Film Festival to be held in Tashkent and Urgench

There are only a few days left until the start of the 11th European Film Festival, one of the important cultural events of the season. The festival will be organized in Tashkent on October 23-25, and for the first time in the city of Urgench on October 27.

The program of the 11th European Film Festival features 11 works ranging from deep dramatic stories and biographical works to documentaries and animation.

Screenings in Tashkent will take place at the National Palace of Film Arts of Uzbekistan.

On October 28, the British Council office in Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, will organize a screening of short films for students. In addition, films will also be screened for the general public at the Moc Hub cultural space.

According to the EU Delegation, the embassies of Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Romania, and Slovenia provided selected films for the film festival. Most of them are winners of national and international film awards.

The Goethe-Institut in Tashkent and the Alliance Française are also actively participating in the organization of the event.

All screenings are free, and the films will be shown in their original language with Uzbek or Russian subtitles.

The festival has been organized annually since 2013 by the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan together with the embassies of European countries in our country, with the support of the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In particular, last year, 12 selected films from 12 European countries were screened.

The film festival embodies the spirit of cultural exchange, creative cooperation, and shared values between Europe and Uzbekistan.
