European Film Festival to take place in Tashkent and, for the first time, in Urgench

Screenings of the 11th European Film Festival in Tashkent will take place from October 23 to 25 at the Palace of National Cinema Arts of Uzbekistan. On October 27, Urgench will host the festival for the first time. This was announced by the organizers — the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan.

The program includes 11 films — dramas, biographical, documentary, and animated films. Some of them have been awarded national and international film prizes.

Films for the festival were provided by the embassies of Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Romania, and Slovenia. The Goethe-Institut and the Alliance Française of Tashkent are also participating in organizing the event.

On October 28, the British Council in Uzbekistan, together with the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, will hold a screening of short films for students. Open film screenings are also planned as part of the festival at the Moc Hub cultural space.

Admission to all screenings is free. Films will be shown in the original language with subtitles in Uzbek or Russian.

The festival has been held annually since 2013. It is organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan together with the embassies of European countries, with the support of the Cinema Agency under the Ministry of Culture.
