"Education should not be limited to merely providing ready-made knowledge" - Shavkat Mirziyoyev
The President of Uzbekistan sent a congratulatory message to the participants of the Central Asian International Education Forum, which opened in Tashkent on October 28.
The address noted that the future development of the region's countries depends on the effectiveness of educational reforms and cooperation. The President emphasized that quality and modern education is the most effective way to turn the demographic potential of Central Asia, inhabited by nearly 85 million people, into an intellectual power.
### Education must prepare for new professions
According to Shavkat Mirziyoyev, attitudes toward many professions will change over the next decade, and completely new specialties will emerge.
"Therefore, the education system should not be limited to merely providing ready-made knowledge, but must also form in young people the skills of independent thinking, creativity, a sense of responsibility, and lifelong learning and striving for innovation," the address states.
To achieve this, increasing the role of teachers and mentors, updating educational content, and guiding young people toward professions in high demand in the labor market were indicated as priority tasks.
It was also noted that attention will be focused on strengthening cooperation between schools, colleges, universities, and industry.
### From preschool education to science
The President noted that a recently adopted decree united preschool and school education, vocational and higher education, and science management into a single system.
He emphasized that the goal of this is to ensure the continuity of the stages from a child's initial education to becoming a mature specialist or scientist.
Expanding opportunities for girls, children in rural and remote areas, and youth with special educational needs was also identified as an important task.
Special emphasis was placed on the development of artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and modern engineering, transforming universities into centers of scientific invention and development, and supporting young researchers.
### Cooperation among the region's universities needs to be expanded
