Drones attack large Ozon warehouse in Samara
On the night of August 22, the Governor of the Samara region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported that on the night of August 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an attack using drones on the Ozon logistics complex and "one of the industrial enterprises" in the region.
Several people were injured as a result of this attack and are receiving medical assistance. The governor noted that dozens of drones were shot down or suppressed using radio-electronic means. Injuries were recorded at the industrial enterprise after the mass attack.
**Ozon evacuated more than 500 employees**
The attacked Ozon logistics complex is located in the city of Chapayevsk, Samara region. This is one of the largest facilities of the marketplace on the Volga River, with a total area of 135 thousand square meters.
Representatives of Ozon confirmed that the facility was attacked by drones. According to the company, a fire broke out in the warehouse area after the strike.
The company said that all security systems were working as expected and that more than 500 employees were evacuated within minutes. However, there were injuries in the incident.
**Warehouse operations suspended indefinitely**
After the attack, Ozon suspended the operations of its logistics center in Chapayevsk for an indefinite period.
The goods stored in the warehouse have been temporarily hidden on the marketplace website. Orders that were supposed to be delivered from this center are said to be canceled.
Also, for security reasons, the acceptance of new goods from sellers into the warehouse has been temporarily suspended.
According to the source, Ukrainian drones have previously repeatedly attacked the warehouse and logistics centers of another Russian marketplace, Wildberries. However, this is the first case of serious damage to a large Ozon facility.
In late July, the Ozon warehouse in Tatarstan also fell into the zone of a drone attack, but the company said at the time that the facility was not damaged.
**Defense enterprises located near Ozone reservoir**
According to the Astra Telegram channel, two defense industry enterprises, Promsintez and Polymer, are located about a kilometer from the Ozone complex in Chapayevsk.
The source said that these factories produce explosives, weapons and ammunition. They have previously been attacked by Ukrainian missiles and drones.
**Fire also at the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery**
On the night of August 22, there were reports that a fire was also observed at the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery in the Samara region.
The Ukrainian Exilenova+ monitoring Telegram channel published photos and videos allegedly taken near the plant. A large column of smoke is visible in the footage.
Astra analysts also concluded that the fire broke out after the drone attack on the territory of the Rosneft-owned enterprise.
However, the governor of the Samara region did not publicly say which industrial enterprise was damaged. Therefore, the information about the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery being hit is still based on open source reports.
This oil refinery has been hit by drone attacks several times before, which led to its temporary suspension of operations.
