Drone attacks continue after strikes on Zaporizhia
At least 26 people, including three children, were injured in Russian airstrikes on the city of Zaporizhia on August 10. Ukrainian officials said the city and region were later hit by drone strikes.
The city of Zaporizhia was hit by new airstrikes by Russian forces on Monday, August 10, which were followed by drone strikes. According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, the number of casualties from these attacks has reached at least 26.
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry said in a statement at 16:15 local time: "The number of casualties from Russian airstrikes in Zaporizhia has increased. At present, 26 people are known to have been injured." The victims included three children, 14 women and nine men.
Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhia regional prosecutor's office and the regional military administration, had previously confirmed that the city had been hit by guided bombs. According to Fedorov, the number of residents seeking medical help after the attack had increased. The extent of the damage and destruction caused by the strike is currently being determined.
At 17:30 local time, Fedorov also reported that there was a threat of a new attack by attack drones on the city of Zaporizhzhia and the region.
On the same day, casualties were also recorded in the Kharkiv region. According to Ukrainian authorities, artillery shelling of the village of Bugayevka in the Chuguyev district destroyed a residential building and killed five people. According to the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Sinegubov, 24 settlements in the region were hit by Russian strikes over the past 24 hours. Nine people were injured as a result of the attacks.
Also, civilian infrastructure facilities, such as farms, enterprises, shops, private and apartment buildings, granaries, and administrative buildings, were damaged or destroyed.
On the night of August 10, the city of Sumy was also attacked with guided aerial bombs. According to Oleg Grigorov, the head of the Sumy regional state administration, civilian infrastructure was hit five times, resulting in at least 14 injuries.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of August 10, Russia attacked Ukraine with a Kh-59/69 guided aviation missile, three Banderol barrage munitions, and 126 Shahed and Gerbera attack and decoy drones. The Ukrainian side reported that it shot down or suppressed 92 drones and three barrage munitions using electronic means.
At the same time, 31 attack drones hit their targets in 22 locations, and drone fragments fell in two more areas. The Ukrainian Air Force said that the aircraft missile launched by Russia did not reach its target as a result of countermeasures taken.
