According to DW, Astra analyzed open-source videos and determined that the target of the attack was the terminal of the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant located in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Rostov-on-Don.
Witnesses reported a massive fire and explosions. Ukraine's Exilenova+ monitoring channel, also citing witness videos and NASA FIRMS platform data, wrote that this exact terminal was struck.
The design capacity of the terminal, previously known as "Yug Rusi," is nearly 2.5 million tons per year. According to Astra, it serves for transshipping oil products for export and is also used to supply fuel to the Russian Armed Forces.
Rostov region governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed that more than 50 unmanned aerial vehicles attacked the area and that a fire broke out in the regional center.
He said one man was injured. Multi-story residential buildings were damaged in several districts of the city, and residents were evacuated.
A railway bridge was also damaged as a result of the attack. For this reason, train services in both directions have been suspended.
Slyusar stated that in the city of Bataysk, a drone also hit an uninhabited multi-story building where residents had not yet moved in. A fire broke out here as well.
Astra also published a photo of the damaged residential building in Rostov-on-Don. According to the publication's OSINT analysis, this is a multi-story building located in the new "Donskaya Sloboda" residential complex on Privokzalnaya Street.
