DP World to start construction of terminal in Tashkent in October

DP World intends to begin construction of a multimodal logistics terminal in Tashkent in October 2026. According to the Hokim of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, the volume of investment in the project will amount to $288 million, Uzbek media report.

The project will be implemented near the capital and involves the creation of a modern logistics infrastructure for residents of the "Yangi Avlod" special industrial zone. The complex will include a container railway terminal, a cargo terminal, a customs post, and warehouse facilities.

The total area of the project will be 82.3 hectares. According to the presented data, the area of the warehouse complex will reach 226.5 thousand square meters. In addition, the provision of related logistics services, including third-party operator services, is envisaged.

The railway terminal is designed to handle 150 thousand TEU, and the road terminal is designed to service up to 55 thousand trucks. The customs infrastructure will include a customs office and a vehicle storage area.

The main goal of the project is to provide enterprises of the special industrial zone with modern logistics infrastructure and to form a more efficient supply system. It is expected that the implementation of the initiative will accelerate logistical processes, increase the efficiency of supply chains, and create conditions for expanding production localization.

The project materials also indicate the facility's estimated capacity to handle 120 million tons of cargo and 150 thousand containers.

The joint venture DP World Tashkent Freight Terminal (DPW Tashkent JV JSC) was established with the participation of the Uzbek and Emirati sides. The share of Tashkent Invest Company is 15%, and DP World's share is 85%. The total investment is set at $288 million.

The head of DP World extended an invitation to the President of Uzbekistan to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the future terminal.

DP World and Tashkent Invest, a subsidiary of the Tashkent administration, concluded the agreement to establish the joint venture for the development and management of the multimodal terminal in October 2025.

DP World implements projects in the field of port and integrated logistics infrastructure. According to the presented data, the group manages more than 60 port terminals, industrial parks, logistics centers, and other facilities with a combined throughput capacity of more than 90 million TEU.
