Construction of the DP World logistics hub, with investments totaling over $288 million, will begin in Tashkent this October. This was announced by the mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, at a ceremony to launch the new facilities, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Tashkent has set an ambitious goal of attracting $9 billion in investment by the end of 2026. The mayor also announced plans to increase exports to $4 billion and presented new projects in the industrial zone. Particular attention was paid to the DP World logistics project, with its management inviting the president to attend the groundbreaking ceremony in October.

According to the mayor, the new facility will have the capacity to handle 20 million tons of cargo and 150,000 containers. Commenting on the project on the Uzbekistan 24 television channel, President Mirziyoyev emphasized its significance: "We've been preparing for this for a long time. This project is very important to us; it's essential."

Shavkat Umurzakov noted that the international consulting firm Boston Consulting Group ranked Tashkent third in the world's ranking of the fastest-growing cities, behind only Shenzhen and Doha. He attributed this success to the reforms being implemented in the capital.

"While Tashkent attracted $2.7 billion in investment in 2024, we have set a target of $9 billion for 2026. By the end of the first eight months, $5.6 billion has been attracted. The goal is to reach $4 billion in exports," the mayor explained. He attributed these figures to the attraction of high-tech projects and high-value-added industries.

The head of state also emphasized Tashkent's announced investment plans. "When has this ever happened? "It's easy to say—$9 billion in investment. This is no small sum for the city of Tashkent. We have one goal: to make our people happy and enhance their dignity. And Tashkent must be a role model—and it is already becoming one," the president declared.

**14 Projects Worth $3 Billion in Output**

The mayor announced the launch of 14 projects during the ceremony. Four of them are in the industrial sector, and two are in tourism. He predicts that in approximately three years, after reaching full capacity, these projects will be able to produce $3 billion worth of output annually and generate $1.5 billion in exports.

Umurzakov also mentioned his presence in the industrial zone opened by the president in November 2024. "God willing, we will launch another 22 projects worth $500 million here by the end of the year," the mayor declared. He later added that projects worth $1.2 billion have already been completed in the area, which was previously considered a "desert." A total of 26 projects are under consideration, ten of which are planned for launch this year.

DP World (Dubai Ports World) is one of the world's largest port operators and logistics giants, based in the UAE, managing seaports, terminals, and supply chains worldwide.

DP World plans to build a multimodal logistics terminal in Tashkent, costing over $288 million. To implement the project, the Emirati company has established a joint venture, DP World Tashkent, with Tashkent Invest, owned by the Tashkent mayor's office. DP World will hold an 85% stake in the joint venture, while Tashkent Invest will hold 15%.

The logistics hub will be located on approximately 82 hectares in the Yangi Avlod Special Industrial Zone, managed by China's CAMCE. It will include a dry port with rail access, customs infrastructure, Class A warehouses, vehicle storage areas, and transshipment terminals. The first phase involves the construction of a railway terminal with a capacity of 150,000 TEUs per year and 63,000 square meters of warehouse space. It was originally scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 or early 2027, but the deadline has been pushed back.

DP World stated that the terminal would serve as a link between Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The project will have direct access to Uzbekistan's rail network, major highways, and Tashkent International Airport.
