A huge logistics center worth $288 million will be built in Tashkent.

The United Arab Emirates' DP World company plans to invest $288 million in the construction of a large logistics center in Tashkent. This was reported by the Dunyo news agency, citing the Ukrainian Center for Transport Strategies.

Construction work on the project is expected to begin in October of this year. Representatives of DP World have invited the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to participate in the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the complex.

The new logistics center is expected to have a capacity to handle up to 20 million tons of cargo and 150 thousand containers per year.

The complex will include a dry port with a railway connection, customs infrastructure and modern warehouse facilities.

The initial stage of the project involves the construction of a warehouse complex with a total area of 63 thousand square meters and a railway terminal.

DP World estimates that this new hub will increase cargo efficiency, improve Uzbekistan's transport connectivity, and simplify trade procedures.

The project is also expected to significantly increase the logistics potential of Central Asia by expanding its capabilities to serve cargo flows passing through Uzbekistan.
