Uzbekistan to open logistics center in Georgia's Poti port
Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz news agency.
By 2027, Uzbekistan plans to commission a logistics center in the Georgian port of Poti, designed to handle 500,000 tons of cargo. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during an open dialogue with business representatives, adding that the country will also begin the practical phase of the project at Anaklia Port.
In addition, Uzbekistan plans to create large transport and logistics hubs in Alat, Termez, Yangiyul, Akhangaran, and Khanabad. Details regarding the construction timeline and cost of these facilities have not yet been disclosed.
To stimulate the development of the industry, customs duties and recycling fees on imported trucks have been abolished. Furthermore, a zero value-added tax (VAT) rate will be applied when providing railcars for international transportation.
Previously, reports indicated that potential disruptions to transit through Iran could result in economic losses for Uzbekistan of up to $1.5 billion.
