Double Success for Uzbekistan: Javokhir Sindarov Receives First FIDE Award, National Team Wins Olympiad Gold
The 2024–2026 Olympic cycle has brought Uzbekistan two major chess achievements. Javokhir Sindarov became the first male recipient of the FIDE Excellence Awards, while the country's national team won the Chess Olympiad for the second time.
Sindarov was recognized in the Best Chess Player — Male category. The selection of the winner took into account results in classical chess, rapid, and blitz, rating dynamics, and achievements over the entire two-year period.
During this time, Sindarov won the World Cup and joined the ranks of the world's strongest chess players. He also established a historic achievement at the Candidates Tournament.
The Uzbekistan men's national team secured first place at the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand ahead of schedule. In the 11th round, India played to a draw, after which the Uzbek team became unreachable for its competitors.
Thus, Uzbekistan concluded the Olympic cycle with two major successes at once — both individual and team.
