Khorezmian singer Janob Rasul announced on his Instagram page that he has been sued by the master artist’s son for singing Bobomurod Hamdamov’s song.

“I received a letter regarding copyright because I sang Bobomurod Hamdamov’s song. I have loved and sung the master’s songs since I was ten years old. My mother is also his fan; on my birthday, she asked me to perform Bobomurod Hamdamov’s song ‘Ko‘rdim yuzingni’. I posted this video, which made my mother happy, on my Instagram page. God is my witness, the master himself said in one video, ‘Let everyone perform all my songs.’ Now, it’s all about money. If you need money, come to me. I will talk to ‘any of you’, whichever child it is. Until now, I have respected both the master’s family and himself. The master himself said, ‘Let everyone sing my songs. Spit in my face if I send a copyright claim, and if my children do so after me, curse them.’ Doing this and making the master’s soul suffer, doing anything for money is not the act of a human being.

First of all, may the master rest in heaven, he was the best master. But unfortunately, I feel very sorry for his sons. This matter will be resolved, the fine will also be paid, but you cannot cover the suffering of the master’s soul with money. We will still answer for our every deed in the next world,” the singer said.

Following this, Janob Rasul also posted a video on his Instagram page where the master artist himself says that anyone can perform his songs.

As a reminder, the People’s Artist of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bobomurod Hamdamov, passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 84.
