Displays showing train arrival times will be installed at the new stations of the Tashkent metro
The electronic displays at the current stations show the time elapsed since the previous train departed, rather than the time remaining until the arrival of the next train. The exact timeframe for implementing the new system at existing stations is not yet known.

Displays showing train arrival times will be installed at new stations of the Tashkent metro
It is planned to install modern electronic displays that accurately reflect the arrival and departure times of trains on new lines and stations of the Tashkent metro to be constructed in the future. This was announced on November 3 by Yuldosh Yusupov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of "Tashkent Metro" JSC, a "Daryo" correspondent reports.
Yusupov answered journalists' questions after a press conference held at the Content Preparation Center on that day. The "Daryo" correspondent inquired about the possibility of introducing a system on electronic displays at metro stations that shows how much time is left until the arrival of the train.
According to Yusupov, currently, electronic displays at metro stations do not show the time remaining until the arrival of the next train, but rather the time elapsed since the previous train left the station. Installing modern timers and electronic clocks at existing stations is difficult due to limited technical capabilities.
However, in accordance with the President's resolution No. 191 dated May 15, 2026, it is planned to step by step introduce intelligent electronic displays that accurately show the arrival and departure times of trains on metro lines and stations to be built in the future. For now, no specific timeline has been provided regarding when the electronic displays at existing stations will be updated.
During the press conference, information was also provided regarding the work being carried out to expand the metro infrastructure and reduce train headways.
It was noted that over the past seven years, 33 kilometers of new metro lines have been built and 21 stations have been commissioned in Tashkent. As a result, the number of metro stations has reached 50, and the total length of the lines has reached 71 kilometers.
While in 2021 the Tashkent metro served an average of 280–300 thousand passengers per day, in 2026 this indicator exceeded 1.2 million people. Also, train headways during peak hours have been reduced to 1.5–2 minutes on the Chilanzar line, up to 3 minutes on the Uzbekistan line, up to 4 minutes on the Yunusabad line, and up to 8 minutes on the elevated ring line.
According to the metro management, there are plans to purchase another 14 modern, five-car train sets in 2027. In addition, by 2030, it is set to bring the daily number of Tashkent metro passengers to 1.8 million, the number of stations to 79, and the total length of the lines to 103 kilometers.
