Dealers of potent drugs detained in Tashkent and Bukhara
In Tashkent and the Bukhara region, customs authorities thwarted two attempts of illicit trafficking of potent medicines. In one episode, more than a thousand tablets containing pregabalin were discovered in the basement of a residential building; in another, a man was detained while attempting to sell drugs containing gabapentin.
The operation at the home of a 47-year-old resident of the Yunusabad district of Tashkent was carried out by officers of the Anti-Smuggling Department of the Customs Committee together with the State Security Service (SGB).
During the search of the basement, law enforcement officers found 84 packages of the drug Regapen — nearly 1.2 thousand tablets. The medicines were seized.
An examination by the Central Customs Laboratory confirmed the presence of 352.5 grams of the potent substance pregabalin in the drug. According to current regulations, more than 10 grams of this substance is considered a large scale and entails criminal liability.
Another incident occurred in the Gijduvan district of the Bukhara region. Officers of the operational units of the regional customs department detained a man who was attempting to sell 204 Gabaten tablets for 1.6 thousand dollars. The potent substance gabapentin was also identified in the composition of the drug.
Criminal cases have been initiated for both episodes. The investigation is ongoing.
Previously, in Syrdarya, half a thousand capsules of pregabalin were found on a Spark passenger.
