Culture and art clubs to be established in schools in Uzbekistan

Culture and art circles will be established in schools of Uzbekistan. This was stipulated in the order of the Minister of Preschool and School Education dated August 27, 2026.
Starting from the new academic year, music and art circles will be established in secondary schools. According to it, clubs will be established in schools in the following areas: “Dutor”, “National Dance”, “Youth Circles” and “Fine Arts”. This procedure is established by the regulation “On the procedure for organizing and establishing music and art circles in secondary schools”.
In the circles, students receive in-depth education for 2 hours a week, for a total of 72 hours. Also, various competitions are held among the club members, and talented students are selected. The purpose of organizing these clubs is to widely promote national art among young people and pass it on to the next generation.
On April 7, at a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was decided to introduce an additional award system of 500 million soums for sports schools that have achieved high results. The aim is to direct sports institutions to results and strengthen competition. Khokims are tasked with creating the necessary conditions for sports clubs in each school and expanding their scope. Sports schools, however, have been criticized for working with ready-made athletes instead of searching for talented youth in the neighborhoods.
