On September 23, 2026, Crystal Bay Vietnam, a member of the Crystal Bay tourism group, together with international partners, organized a charter flight from Tashkent to Phu Quoc Island. This flight was the result of three years of work by the company to study markets, create tourism products, develop air connections, and promote Phu Quoc in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and other CIS countries.
Typically, the holiday season in Phu Quoc for tourists from the CIS countries and Russia starts in November, when dry weather sets in on the island. However, in 2026, favorable weather conditions — a high number of sunny days and less rainfall than usual — made it possible to open the season as early as September for the first time.
According to plans, Crystal Bay Vietnam, in cooperation with international tour operators and airlines, will operate charter flights to Phu Quoc from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and cities of the Russian Federation until the end of May 2027. During the period of peak demand, the program provides for daily flights, taking into account the needs of each market and the carrying capacities of the airlines. As a result, the duration of the season could reach nine months, significantly exceeding the figures of previous years.
AIRLINES CONNECTING PHU QUOC WITH CENTRAL ASIA AND RUSSIA
A notable contribution to the development of tourist transportation from Russia and the CIS countries to Vietnam was made by Vietjet Air, SCAT Airlines, Air Astana, Centrum Air, and Qanot Sharq Airlines. Their participation helped expand direct air connections between Vietnam and Central Asia and Russia, and created the foundation for Crystal Bay's charter programs.
From the end of October 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to join in transporting tourists from CIS countries and Russia to Phu Quoc. The entry into the market of an airline whose name is directly linked to the island opens up new opportunities for growth in traffic volumes, expansion of the route network, and the development of international tourism. The coordinated work of tour operators, airlines, hotels, and host organizations will help establish a steady flow of guests, extend the tourist season, and reduce the industry's dependence on seasonal fluctuations.
