Crimes of the Israeli Military
The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry presented a new report to the General Assembly. In the document, the actions of Israeli forces against Palestinian minors were recognized as a crime against humanity linked to age discrimination.
The Commission concluded that the actions of Israeli forces toward Palestinian children constitute crimes against humanity, including persecution on the grounds of age (alongside nationality, race, etc.). The Commission established that Israeli forces intentionally targeted Palestinian children.
The data provided in the report regarding the deaths of children is indeed immense. According to the report, published in June 2026 and covered in October, between October 7, 2023, and March 31, 2026, more than 20,000 Palestinian children were killed in the Gaza Strip (the exact figure in various sources is 20,179 or 21,500), with about 44,000 more injured, accounting for approximately 30% of the total number of casualties.
The report explicitly states that even after a ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025, Israeli forces continued to use heavy weapons, drones, and sniper fire in densely populated areas, resulting in the deaths of at least several hundred (according to various sources, about 265 or 300) Palestinian children.
The Commission is a subsidiary body established by the UN Human Rights Council, and its report is not a legally binding judicial decision. The Israeli side categorically rejected the report, calling it a "disinformation campaign" and "a document aimed at demonizing Israel," and stated that it does not recognize its conclusions.
