Cotton yield in Uzbekistan reaches 56.2 c/ha
According to current data, in 2026 the cotton yield in Uzbekistan reached 56.2 centners per hectare. This is the highest figure for the entire period since 1990. A total of 5 million 2 thousand tons of cotton was harvested from a sown area of 890 thousand hectares.
In 2025, cotton was cultivated on 876 thousand hectares, the gross harvest amounted to 3 million 986 thousand tons, and the yield was 45.5 centners per hectare. Over the year, the sown area increased by 14 thousand hectares, the harvest grew by approximately 1 million 16 thousand tons, and the yield added 10.7 centners. In 2024, 3 million 181 thousand tons were obtained from 1 million 4 thousand hectares, with a yield of 31.7 centners.
According to current data, the production volume in 2026 became the second largest for the entire period under review. Only the figure for 1990 was higher — 5 million 58 thousand tons. At that time, cotton was grown on 1 million 830 thousand hectares, and the yield was 27.6 centners. Thus, the current harvest almost equaled the 1990 level, even though the sown area decreased by more than half, and the yield approximately doubled.
Overall, the area under cotton decreased throughout the entire period: from 1 million 830 thousand hectares in 1990 to 1 million 377 thousand in 2000, 1 million 318 thousand in 2010, and 1 million 34 thousand in 2020. The smallest area was recorded in 2025 — 876 thousand hectares.
From 1990 to 2018, the yield ranged from 20.6 to 27.6 centners per hectare. The minimum value occurred in 2003. Starting in 2019, the figure began to grow: 27.4 centners in 2019, 29.6 in 2020, 32.4 in 2021, 33.8 in 2022, and 36.6 in 2023. Until 2025, that last value remained the highest in the statistics.
The lowest gross harvest for the entire period was recorded in 2018: 2 million 310 thousand tons with a yield of 21.6 centners per hectare and a sown area of 1 million 71 thousand hectares.
