**COP31: Uzbekistan and UNDP are further strengthening strategic climate partnership**
On November 11, 2026, within the framework of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), a thematic event titled “Strategic Climate Partnership of Uzbekistan and UNDP: From Commitments to Investments and Enhancing Resilience” will be held at the National Pavilion of Uzbekistan in Antalya, Türkiye.
This event will be dedicated to the priority areas of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in combating climate change, fulfilling national climate commitments, adapting to climate change, and attracting investments to projects aimed at enhancing resilience.
Special attention will be paid to the implementation of Uzbekistan's third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) under the Paris Agreement, strengthening institutional capacity, developing climate finance mechanisms, and forming attractive projects to attract investment.
One of the main topics of discussion will be promoting Uzbekistan's initiative to cooperate with the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). The country's participation as one of the initial pilot countries in the "Climate BRIDGE" initiative, implemented with UNDP support, will also be considered. This initiative aims to assist in translating climate commitments set under NDC 3.0 into concrete investment projects and forming a relevant project portfolio.
Another important area of discussion will be devoted to cooperation on developing National Adaptation Plans for climate change, as well as enhancing the resilience of the regions and communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including the Aral Sea region.
The event will be attended by representatives of state bodies of Uzbekistan, UNDP, international financial institutions, partner organizations, and other stakeholders. Within the framework of the thematic session, the results and priority areas of the strategic climate partnership between Uzbekistan and UNDP will be presented. Additionally, the prospects for attracting financial resources through the FRLD and the capabilities of the Climate BRIDGE initiative in advancing national climate priorities and preparing investment projects will be discussed.
In conclusion, it is planned to outline the next practical steps for further developing cooperation, mobilizing climate finance, and implementing projects aimed at increasing the country's climate resilience.
