Construction workers from Uzbekistan were injured in a fire at a construction site in Omsk.

A fire broke out at a construction site in Omsk, injuring 11 Uzbek citizens.

The incident occurred on the morning of August 15 in the Kvartaly Draverta neighborhood, where a multi-story building under construction caught fire. According to preliminary reports, the fire started on the ground floor during welding work, after which the flames quickly spread to the upper floors. The total fire area reached approximately 1,000 square meters.

According to the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Omsk Region, all the victims were construction contractors from Uzbekistan. All 11 people were taken to the hospital.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was caused by insulation igniting during welding.

The prosecutor's office is currently investigating compliance with fire safety and labor laws. Details of the incident are being clarified. There has been no official comment from Uzbek authorities regarding this incident.

As a reminder, earlier, on August 10, eight Uzbek citizens were killed in a drone attack on Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan. Their remains were repatriated to their homeland.
