China has tightened entry and exit procedures for the country

Starting September 15, China has tightened exit rules for its citizens and entry rules for foreigners. This includes a series of restrictions aimed at ensuring the country's sovereignty and security.

From now on, the Chinese government will issue warnings regarding the risks associated with traveling to certain countries and regions. Both Chinese citizens and the government agencies processing their travel documents are required to comply with these warnings. The situation abroad will be assessed based on ongoing events, including potential armed conflicts, natural and man-made disasters, and the spread of infectious diseases.

If necessary, migration authorities may request additional documents from citizens of China and other countries regarding the purpose of their travel. In the event that forged documents are presented, the individual will not be allowed to leave the country.

The relevant measure will also apply to citizens who have violated export control regulations regarding goods and technologies or posed a threat to "national technological security." Chinese citizens who commit offenses abroad are subject to a ban on leaving the country for a period of six months to three years.

Restrictions have also been set for foreigners: if incorrect information or forged documents are presented during visa processing or when crossing the Chinese border, foreign citizens will be banned from entering the country for a period of one to five years. Foreign citizens who have been restricted by immigration, visa authorities, or in accordance with Chinese law will also be restricted from entering the country.

The new rules provide for a fine of 5,000 to 50,000 yuan ($740–$7,500) for providing illegal mediation services in processing entry and exit documents, preparing fake invitation letters, and organizing such activities without a license. At the same time, the provision of such services by foreign companies is strictly prohibited.

For reference, starting June 1, 2025, citizens of Uzbekistan and China are allowed to enter, exit, and transit through the territory of the two countries without a visa for up to 30 days. However, this procedure does not apply to employment, study, and the media sector. Kyrgyzstan has also updated its rules for registering foreigners. According to the new rule, citizens of Uzbekistan can stay in Kyrgyzstan without any additional documentation under a visa-free regime for a total of up to 60 days within every 120-day (4-month) period. Previously, a similar period applied to citizens of Uzbekistan, but it was possible to renew it by exiting and re-entering through the border.
