Chess Olympiad. Uzbekistan defeated Austria, Sindarov secured his second victory
The first men's national team of Uzbekistan won its third consecutive match at the Olympiad in Samarkand, defeating Austria 3-1. One of the two winning points was brought by Javokhir Sindarov. Uzbekistan-2 lost to Germany in the men's tournament and to Spain in the women's, while the third national teams defeated Morocco and Saudi Arabia.

On September 18, the third round of the 46th World Chess Olympiad took place in Samarkand. The main men's national team of Uzbekistan beat Austria with a score of 3:1. Uzbekistan-2 lost to one of the tournament favorites — Germany, while the country's third team confidently defeated Morocco.
Javokhir Sindarov, playing his second game at the home Olympiad, triumphed over Austrian Grandmaster Felix Blohberger (2552) on the second board with the white pieces. For the Uzbek chess player, this is already his second consecutive victory: the day before, he brilliantly outplayed the representative of Peru, Diego Saul Rodri Flores Quillas.

Another point for the main national team was brought by Mukhiddin Madaminov, who defeated Konstantin Peyrer. On the first board, Nodirbek Abdusattorov drew with Kirill Alekseenko, and Nodirbek Yakubboev drew with Lukas Dotzer. As a result, Uzbekistan won against Austria 3:1 and secured its third consecutive team victory.
Thus, the first national team won all three opening matches of the Olympiad — against Jamaica, Peru, and Austria — and has the maximum of six match points.
The second national team of Uzbekistan was left without points for the first time in the tournament, losing to the fifth-seeded team of Germany — 1.5:2.5.
On the first board, Jakhongir Vakhidov lost to the leader of the German national team, Vincent Keymer. Abdumalik Abdisalimov drew with Matthias Bluebaum, Mukhammadzokhid Suyarov drew with Frederik Svane, and Ortik Nigmatov drew with Rasmus Svane.
After three rounds, Uzbekistan-2 has four match points — two wins and one loss.
The third national team of Uzbekistan beat Morocco with a score of 3.5:0.5.
Full points for the team were brought by Saidakbar Saidaliev, Mukhammadali Abdurakhmonov, and Asrorjon Omonov. Bakhrom Bakhrillaev ended his game in a draw.
Uzbekistan-3 also accumulated four match points after three rounds. The team suffered its only defeat against Germany.
Other rating leaders also mostly achieved victories. The USA beat Denmark — 2.5:1.5, India beat Italy (3:1), China beat Bulgaria (3.5:0.5), the Netherlands beat Australia (2.5:1.5), Azerbaijan beat Switzerland (3:1), France beat Kazakhstan (3.5:0.5), Armenia beat Sweden (2.5:1.5), and Hungary beat Slovenia (2.5:1.5).
One of the main sensations of the round was Norway's defeat by Singapore — 1.5:2.5. Before the start of the tournament, Singapore was seeded 50th, while Norway was seeded 21st. Another unexpected victory was achieved by Kyrgyzstan: the 79th-seeded team beat Brazil, which held the 31st seed, — 2.5:1.5.
The first women's national team of Uzbekistan also continued its winning streak, defeating Indonesia — 3:1.
Afruza Khamdamova drew with Diaeng Theresa Singgih, and Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova drew with Lisa Latifah. Victories were secured by Umida Omonova over Shafira Devi Herfesa and Nilufarkhon Imomkuzieva over Chelse Monica Ignesias Sihite.
The Uzbek women won all three matches and scored the maximum of six match points. The team has 11 points on the boards. In the official standings after the third round, a number of other national teams have the same number of match points, including the USA, Romania, India, Poland, Vietnam, Israel, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and China.
The second women's national team of Uzbekistan lost to Spain — 1:3. Nilufar Yakubbaeva and Asal Salimova drew, while Marjona Malikova and Madinabonu Khalilova suffered defeats.
The third women's team, on the contrary, crushed Saudi Arabia — 4:0. Zilola Aktamova, Maftuna Bobomurodova, Shokhina Akhmedova, and Ozoda Shakhzodova won their games.
After three rounds, the second and third women's national teams of Uzbekistan have four match points each.
The reigning Olympiad champions from India defeated Greece — 3.5:0.5. Kazakhstan beat Slovenia with the same score, China defeated Turkey — 3:1, the USA beat Cuba (3.5:0.5), Poland beat Latvia (4:0), Armenia beat Croatia (4:0), and Georgia beat the UAE (4:0).
Two of the favorite teams suffered defeats at once. Ukraine lost to Argentina — 0.5:3.5, and France lost to Iran — 1:3. These two results were among the main sensations of the third round of the women's Olympiad.
In the fourth round, which will take place on September 19, the first men's national team of Uzbekistan will play against Turkey. Both teams have scored 6 match points after three rounds. Before the round, Uzbekistan occupies 4th place, while Turkey is in 16th.
Uzbekistan-2 will meet New Zealand. Both teams have 4 points: the second team of Uzbekistan is in 31st place, and its opponent is in 91st. Uzbekistan-3, which also has 4 points, will play against Yemen.
