Centrum Air launches direct flights from Tashkent to Mattala
Centrum Air has launched direct flights between Tashkent and the Sri Lankan city of Mattala.
Flights on the new route will be operated twice a week — on Wednesdays and Saturdays — until the end of March 2027. This was reported by the "Dunyo" information agency.
The first flight landed at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport on October 28 at 17:30 local time. The aircraft brought 160 passengers.
On the occasion of the opening of the new route, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water arch. This was followed by an official ceremony.
This route was opened as a result of negotiations conducted by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad and Centrum Air with relevant organizations of Sri Lanka. Representatives of the receiving side expressed gratitude for the establishment of direct flights on the Tashkent — Mattala — Tashkent route.
The new route is aimed at expanding transport links between Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka, as well as creating additional opportunities for the development of trade, investment, and tourism.
Direct flights will also allow the use of Uzbekistan as a transit route for air travel between Sri Lanka and Central Asian countries.
Flights are scheduled to be operated until the end of March 2027.
