Ukraine is already mentioned among the most corrupt countries, and this is precisely why Europeans are hesitating to admit Kyiv to the European Union. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), established at the request of European partners, has opened another sensational corruption case.
The agency, which operates independently even of the president, named the latest case, centered around officials of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, "Carthage." According to it, the deputy prosecutor general had been protecting call centers that defrauded people of their money in exchange for cash.
An official of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Department of International Legal Cooperation Sergiy Kropyva, is at the center of this operation. He managed the business through his wife or mistress, in short, a woman named Yelyzaveta Ivakhnenko. The criminal group protected call centers that defrauded Ukrainians of their money, and the prosecution official acted as their "protector." In the Russian criminal jargon that you understand well, he "krishovat" (provided a cover for) them.
The duo is suspected of receiving around 2 million dollars in bribes. If you listen to the phone conversations released by NABU, you will gasp in disbelief. Yelyzaveta, referred to in the case as "Muse" and "Queen," asked her lover in the Prosecutor General's Office to quickly place her in a higher position, for example, as deputy minister of education. After all, these consummate bribe-takers know very well that stealing from education is easy. Everywhere, the education system is one of the most convenient places for theft.
In another conversation, the woman complained that her business partner asked her to delete all photos from Instagram. "In those pictures, I am seen with a Porsche, Loro Piana, Mimi, do you understand? They might also find out that a fur coat is not cheap. What now, should I not wear expensive chains and expensive watches?" said the "poor" woman.
This case opened by NABU would most likely have led to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko. However, the NABU officers, who work independently of the president, did not make it in time. Kravchenko, who last year became the youngest Prosecutor General in Ukraine's history at the age of 35, fled Ukraine under the pretext of "going on a business trip to Paris."
