Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will remain private individuals and will not return to performing the duties of working royals during their residence in the UK. An official letter clarifying Buckingham Palace's position, prepared on the instructions of King Charles III, was published by the head of the royal household.

This marks the first public statement by the monarch and his office since the couple's return to the United Kingdom. The Sussexes stepped back as senior members of the royal family and moved to California six years ago.

The spouses retain their status as private citizens with commercial and charitable interests. The use of the titles "His and Her Royal Highness" remains suspended.

Furthermore, Harry and Meghan will maintain financial independence and will continue to provide for their own security. They do not receive public funding or automatic taxpayer-funded protection.

All charitable and commercial activities of the couple are recognized as their private matter.

According to sources, Harry, Meghan, and their children — Archie and Lilibet — arrived in the UK on August 26. The family plans to remain in the country for the long term, and the children will continue their education at a local school. The family's exact place of residence and the educational institution have not been disclosed.

After moving to the US in 2020, the couple actively engaged in commercial media projects, including a contract with the streaming service Netflix to produce the 2022 documentary series "Harry & Meghan," as well as Meghan's lifestyle show "With Love, Meghan."
