It is usually imagined that princesses live in luxury and prosperity, especially happily ever after with their beloved prince. However, the life of Princess Haya, who fled from the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, does not fit this imagination at all. What caused her escape, and what did the princess go through?

Before her marriage, she led an active life: she graduated from Oxford, learned several languages, and became the first Arab woman to compete in equestrian sports at the Olympic Games. It was at one of these competitions that she met her future husband, the Sheikh of Dubai, Mohammed.

Haya was raised on Western traditions, much like Jordan's current Queen Rania, which is why the princess wanted to continue her active public life, but the Sheikh's family was against it. Haya remained active only in charity work and social projects, but these activities further intensified the disagreements with the Sheikh.

As a result, in 2019, the princess fled Dubai with her 11-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son. Some sources claimed that she took 35 million euros from the royal family.

In order to bring her back, Sheikh Mohammed filed a lawsuit in a German court demanding the return of the children, but Germany flatly refused. Later, Haya moved to Great Britain.
