The new BMW i3 50L electric sedan traveled 1,213 km without recharging during road tests in China. This was reported by Car News China.

The vehicle arrived at its destination with only 1 percent of battery capacity remaining. The distance covered accounted for 118 percent of the claimed driving range, setting a new record for the brand in long-distance driving tests.

During the test, average electric energy consumption was just 8.8 kWh per 100 km. At the same time, the route covered highways, regular roads, and city streets.

The BMW i3 50L is developed on the basis of the new Neue Klasse electric platform. The tested sedan is equipped with a 113.4 kWh battery and an 800-volt architecture. Mass production and launch of the BMW i3 50L model in the Chinese market are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The tests were conducted to mark the start of mass production of sixth-generation batteries at BMW's plant in Shenyang, China.
