Benefits for guardians of adults with severe mental retardation will be assigned automatically

Benefits for guardians of adults with profound mental retardation will be assigned automatically

In Uzbekistan, a new procedure has been approved for paying benefits to guardians of adult citizens with a profound degree of mental retardation. The decision to assign such a payment will be made automatically.

Official guardians of citizens over 18 years of age who have been diagnosed with the corresponding condition will be eligible to receive the benefit. This refers specifically to a payment to the person who officially provides guardianship and care for an adult ward.

The main change concerns the mechanism of assigning the benefit itself. After receiving the necessary information, the decision to grant the payment will be generated automatically, which should reduce the number of separate administrative procedures for guardians.

It is also reported that the National Agency for Social Protection and the World Bank are discussing new criteria for assigning social assistance. When assessing need, it is planned to consider not only family income, but also disability, chronic illnesses, the number of children, and other circumstances.
