In Uzbekistan, pensions for the unemployed and those who have lost their breadwinner will be assigned proactively

On September 28, a presidential decree "On additional measures to introduce modern services related to state pension provision" was adopted.

According to the decree, the following pension provision services will be provided in a proactive form without requiring a separate application from citizens, whereby citizens are granted the right to reject the proactively assigned pensions:

Starting from November 1, 2026, the service of assigning pensions on preferential terms to persons employed in harmful and arduous working conditions and who have the right to receive a pension with a reduced generally established pension age on other grounds will be provided in an interactive form.

For this, citizens can apply at their own discretion through the Public Service Centers or the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services (my.gov.uz).

Starting from December 1, 2026, citizens can apply to transfer to another type of pension in accordance with the Law "On State Pension Provision of Citizens". If the amount of the new pension to be assigned is less than the pension the citizen is currently receiving, the previous type of pension will remain unchanged.

It will also be possible to apply for a recalculation of the pension amount based on additional electronic information on work experience and wages provided by archives or organizations.

Starting from January 1, 2027, it will be possible to apply to switch the pension payment to cash form and to restore suspended pension payments.

Citizens can obtain information about deductions made from the pension amount based on court decisions, rulings, orders and sentences, executive documents and other decisions, as well as about the calculated pension and voluntarily paid social tax.

The registration of the pension file due to a change of residential address will also be carried out in electronic form.

Starting from January 1, 2027, through the "My Pension" online service, the following will be taken into account as work experience in calculating pensions:

Additionally, the opportunity will be provided to determine the amount of the pension to be assigned and to send electronic requests to state archive bodies to obtain information on wages and work experience.

Citizens who are one year away from retirement age will be notified in advance.

Starting from January 1, 2027, the practice of accepting paper documents and information from citizens by the Pension Fund will be abolished.

According to the draft decree, starting from 2028, the retirement age will be increased by 3 months every year, reaching 63 years for men and 58 years for women in 2039. It is also envisaged that the minimum work experience required for assigning a pension will be increased to 15 years by 2034.
