Barriers in trade with Turkey may decrease
Uzbekistan and Turkey discussed options to facilitate the entry of goods into the markets of both countries, simplify customs procedures, and mutually recognize certificates of conformity. The parties aim to bring the mutual trade volume to 5 billion dollars.

According to the "Dunyo" information agency, Ankara hosted the second meeting of the working group on trade issues between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Trade of Turkey.
During the negotiations, measures to eliminate existing tariff and non-tariff barriers and ease the conditions for bringing products into the markets of the two countries were considered. Special attention was paid to expanding the mutual supply of agricultural, electrical, and light industry products.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the fields of technical regulation, standardization, and assessing the conformity of products with established requirements. In particular, the possibilities of mutual recognition of conformity certificates and simplification of customs procedures were reviewed.
It was agreed to establish a technical working group consisting of industry experts to quickly resolve issues related to technical requirements for electrical products and their conformity assessment.
Furthermore, technical consultations were held on signing an expanded version of the Preferential Trade Agreement between Uzbekistan and Turkey.
At the end of the meeting, a protocol reflecting the agreements reached was signed.
