Barcelona have announced the signing of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus. The player joins the Catalan club from English club Arsenal. The deal was finalized on the final day of the summer transfer window.

**Transfer terms**
The 29-year-old striker has signed a contract with the Catalan club until June 30, 2029. Although the transfer fee was not disclosed, according to media reports, Barcelona will pay Arsenal around 10 million euros. There are also bonuses of up to 4 million euros, and the London club will have the right to receive 20% of the proceeds from the player's future sales.
**Why Jesus?**
After the departure of Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona were looking for a classic center forward. Initially, Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez was the main candidate, but the Madrid club refused to negotiate the sale of the Argentine player. As a result, Barcelona turned their attention to Jesus, who had lost his place in the starting lineup to Arsenal's Kai Havers and Victor Diogoreche.

**Football career**
Gabriel Jesus was born on 3 April 1997 in São Paulo, Brazil. He started his career at Palmeiras, where he won the domestic cup and the league. In 2016, he moved to Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. He played 236 games for City, scoring 95 goals and providing 45 assists. He also won the English championship four times, the FA Cup and other trophies.
In July 2022, the striker moved to Arsenal, where he played 123 matches and scored 32 goals. In January 2025, he suffered a serious injury to the cruciate ligament in his knee and only returned to the field in December, helping the Gunners win the 2025/26 season.
