Audi to build its first plant in the US. Project value is $4 billion

The German auto concern Audi is planning to build its first plant in the US state of Georgia. Nearly $4 billion in investment will be allocated for the project. This was announced at an event attended by the company's CEO Gernot Döllner and US President Donald Trump.

Until now, Audi imported cars for the American market from its plants in Europe and Mexico. Due to the 15 percent tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on imported cars and components, the company was forced to incur an additional cost of 1.2 billion euros (approximately $1.4 billion) last year. According to experts, financial pressure and declining sales in the US market (sales fell by 16 percent this year) are prompting the German brand to localize production.

The new plant is planned to produce up to 200,000 cars per year. It is expected to mainly produce expensive and large SUVs, including the Audi Q7, Q8, and Q9 models. Construction will begin next year, with production targeted for the early 2030s.
