An attempt to illegally import 20 iPhones worth 310 million UZS detected at Tashkent airport
An attempt to illegally import 20 iPhone smartphones worth nearly 310 million UZS was exposed at Tashkent International Airport. This was reported by the Customs Committee.
At the border customs post of Tashkent International Airport, it was revealed that some passengers had indicated in their declarations the codes of other previously illegally imported devices instead of the real IMEI codes of the mobile devices they were bringing from abroad.
In doing so, by reinstalling the software of the smartphones, IMEI codes belonging to other mobile devices were installed on them.
For this reason, one IMEI code appeared in the phone settings, while another code appeared when checked via a USSD request.
It is mandatory to also specify the IMEI codes of the devices in the declaration.
Customs checks are currently ongoing regarding the identified cases.
Earlier, it was reported that individuals who attempted to covertly import iPhones worth 227 million UZS were identified at Tashkent airport.
