Apple has introduced the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12, and Apple Watch Ultra 4. In the new devices, special attention is paid to the camera, battery, artificial intelligence, and health tracking features.

The iPhone 18 Pro series, consisting of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, is equipped with a new 48-megapixel Fusion main camera. For the first time in iPhone history, a variable aperture feature has appeared in it. The camera changes the aperture through the movement of six laser-cut blades, and the user can manually control the aperture, exposure, white balance, and other settings in the camera app.

The new models also introduce the Apple Reference Image feature, designed to verify the original appearance of a photo. The price of the iPhone 18 Pro will be $1,199, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be $1,299. Pre-orders will start on September 12, and sales will launch on September 18.

The smartphones run on the A20 Pro chip developed by Apple. Built on a 2-nanometer technology, the chip features a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU, and two 16-core Neural Engines.

According to the company, thanks to the new cooling system, the iPhone 18 Pro provides up to 40 percent higher sustained performance compared to the previous generation. The eSIM version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max can play video for up to 45 hours. The battery can be charged up to 50 percent in about 15 minutes.

AirPods 5 model

Apple also introduced the AirPods 5 headphones. The company described them as the most advanced AirPods model with active noise cancellation in an open-ear design. The new model can reduce external noise by up to 50 percent more than the AirPods 4 with ANC. It features a new acoustic architecture that improves sound quality, Adaptive EQ, Siri AI, and a Live Translation feature based on Apple Intelligence.

The price of AirPods 5 is set at $129, and the version with a wireless charging case is $149. The second option features volume control by sliding on the earbud stem and up to 5 hours of battery life with ANC turned on.

Apple Watch Series 12

A new Health Sensing System and the S11 chip have appeared in this device. The smart watch measures heart rate every five seconds, records heart rate variability up to 24 times more frequently than before, and offers a Readiness feature that assesses the user's daily state. It rates the user from 0 to 10 and provides one of the recommendations: "Recover", "Pace Yourself", "Ready", or "Go For It".

The Series 12 lasts up to 24 hours in normal use and up to 10 hours during outdoor workouts. A 15-minute charge provides up to an additional 12 hours of operation. The model is presented in 42 and 46 millimeter sizes, in aluminum, titanium, and new ceramic case options.

Apple Watch Ultra 4

This model also features the new Health Sensing System and S11 chip, measuring heart rate and HRV metrics more frequently and supporting the Readiness feature. The watch can run up to 50 hours in normal use and up to 84 hours in low power mode. It tracks outdoor workouts with full GPS and heart rate data for up to 25 hours, and up to 45 hours in Max Extended Workout mode.

Along with the new Apple Watch models, the Health app on the iPhone has also been redesigned. It will feature Insights, which analyzes health metrics, and Longevity sections, which track long-term health status. The Health Age feature compares certain metrics with the user's actual age.

Audio Intelligence features will also appear later on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4. They will allow detecting important sounds, reviewing the last 15 seconds of a conversation in text format, and getting a short summary of conversations. In the new models, Siri AI based on Apple Intelligence will also work via watchOS 27.

Apple presented its first foldable smartphone — the iPhone Duo. The device will have a 7.6-inch internal screen when opened, and a 5.4-inch external display when closed. The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999. The device will be released in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB storage options. In the US, there is also an option to pay for it at $83.29 per month for 24 months.

The internal Super Retina XDR display is 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max screen, and the external screen is equal to 90 percent of the iPhone 18 Pro display. Both screens support ProMotion, Always On, and up to 3000 nits of brightness. The device features a Grade 5 titanium body, Ceramic Shield protection, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

The smartphone is equipped with the A20 Pro chip. Thanks to the new cooling system, its sustained performance is said to be up to 35 percent higher compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. The device has two batteries and plays video for up to 31 hours on the internal screen and up to 44 hours on the external screen. When both screens are used equally, it can be used for up to 24 hours on a single charge. The battery charges up to 50 percent in about 20 minutes.
