Anne Carson has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature

Canadian writer Anne Carson has become the winner of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. The award was presented to her for her courageous and innovative work, which managed to create new forms of contemporary literature through a unique dialogue with classical tradition. This was announced by the Nobel Committee.

According to the committee's assessment, Carson's long-standing literary career developed alongside her work in translation and her teaching activity at universities.

The Nobel Committee highlighted the uniqueness of her creative approach, noting that she constantly combines a deep interest in the word with a poetic impulse directed toward the search for new meanings.

Thus, Carson became the next Nobel laureate in literature, following Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai, who received the prize in 2025.

The process of announcing the 2026 Nobel Prize laureates will continue from October 5 to October 12. In addition to literature, prize winners in several other fields have already been announced.

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann, and Georg Nagel for the creation of optogenetics.

The Nobel Prize in Physics was presented to Francis Halzen for the discovery of cosmic neutrinos.

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Henri Kagan and Kensō Soai for their discovery in the field of organic synthesis.
