And on a long journey…

A Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk will soon visit Afghanistan. This was announced by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov.

"A trip by a large representative delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Alexei Logvinovich Overchuk will soon be dedicated to this [development of economic ties]," he said at the CSTO, CIS, and SCO conference on security issues in Central Asia and Afghanistan.

As reported earlier, on October 14, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin paid an unannounced working visit to Afghanistan, where he held talks with the Director of the General Directorate of Intelligence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Abdul Haq Wasiq. And earlier, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Venediktov noted that Moscow and Kabul "are working closely with the Afghans on the issue of synthetic drugs."
