Unannounced visits by Russian security officials

Afghan sources report that the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, Sergey Naryshkin, made an unannounced visit to Kabul and held a meeting with the head of the General Directorate of Intelligence of the IEA, Mullah Abdul Haq Wasiq.

It should be noted that Sergey Naryshkin, while serving as Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, had previously paid an official visit to Kabul in December 2013 and met with the leaders of the former Afghan regime.

As reported by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov held a meeting with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Botir Kudratkhodjaev, who was recently appointed to this position. The head of the Russian defense department congratulated his Uzbek colleague on his appointment and noted that it would give a new impetus to the development of bilateral military cooperation. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of mutual interest.
