Tashkent International Fashion Academy to open in Tashkent
The Tashkent International Fashion Academy will be established in Uzbekistan to train specialists for the light industry.
The educational institution will receive the status of a state university, and classes will start as early as the 2026/2027 academic year. In the future, it is also planned to introduce dual education and open a dormitory here.
The new academy will operate within the system of the Light Industry Development Agency. It will be created on the basis of a joint educational program between the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry and the Paris International Fashion Academy.
Students currently enrolled in this joint program will continue their studies at the new academy. Graduates will be awarded an academy diploma.
In addition to joint programs, the university will be able to independently train specialists in Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.
Starting from the 2027/2028 academic year, it is planned to introduce dual education. This will allow the training of specialists for textile, garment, knitwear, and leather-shoe enterprises according to the orders of specific companies and organizations, combining studies with practical training.
The Academy will also be engaged in designing uniforms for various companies under state orders. Another area of focus will be the formation and development of national brands.
Special opportunities to continue their education will be provided for graduates of light industry technical colleges. Starting from the 2027/2028 academic year, those who have successfully graduated from a specialized technical college and achieved a grade point average not lower than the indicator set by the academy will be able to enroll directly into the third year of a Bachelor's degree program. Studies will be on a fee-paying contract basis.
To attract foreign teachers, specialists, and students, provision has been made for the issuance and extension of multiple-entry visas and registrations. These measures will also apply to administrative staff of the academy and their family members.
A 400-bed dormitory will be built for the students of the new university by the end of 2028. Until then, students transferred from the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry will be able to use the former institute's dormitory.
It turned out that Uzbek fabrics and ornaments — atlas and adras — resonate with global trends.
