A China International Technical School is planned to open in Tashkent, according to a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan submitted for public discussion.

The multidisciplinary educational institution will be created in collaboration with China Oriental Education Holdings Limited. It is proposed to use the facilities of the Republican Technical School of Television and Radio, located in the Bektemir district, for its construction. The building will be provided for targeted, free use for 20 years.

The project envisages China Oriental Education Holdings attracting $5.1 million in foreign direct investment for the establishment of the technical school.

The technical school will operate as a non-governmental educational institution. Its founders will be China Oriental Education Holdings and the Agency for Vocational Training under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.

Training will be offered on a fee-based contract basis in full-time, evening, and dual programs. The technical school will train mid-level personnel and organize internships for students commissioned by major Chinese automakers such as BYD, Chery, and JAC. Graduates will receive vocational diplomas recognized in Uzbekistan, as well as international certificates.

As part of the investment project, China Oriental Education Holdings is committed to renovating existing buildings, constructing new workshops, and equipping them with modern equipment. It is planned to engage both local and international specialists in teaching. The company will also organize professional development for local teachers in China.

Starting in the 2027-2028 academic year, enrollment at the Republican Technical School of Television and Radio will be stopped. Students already enrolled will be able to complete their studies under their existing educational programs.

Discussion of the draft document will last until September 1, 2026.

A branch of China's Liaoning Normal University and a Confucius Institute, both visited by the president, have already opened in Khiva.
