President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the activities of the Liaoning Normal University branch in Uzbekistan and the Confucius Institute, which opened in Khiva.

A branch of Liaoning Normal University has opened in Khiva.

A modern educational complex was built as part of a joint project between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Abu Rayhan Beruni Urgench State University, and Liaoning Normal University (China). 140 billion soums were allocated from the state budget for its construction and equipment, creating 120 new jobs.

The complex includes academic buildings designed to accommodate 560 students, a library, a gymnasium, a 200-seat cultural center, and a 118-seat cafeteria. A second four-story building houses classrooms with 628 seats and a 224-bed student dormitory.

The admission quota for 2026 is set at 160 students. Plans call for increasing annual enrollment to 500 students, and the total number of students to 2,000.

Instruction will be offered in person and online in Uzbek, Chinese, and English. Undergraduate programs will train specialists in International Education in Chinese, Tourism Management, International Business, and Artificial Intelligence. Master's programs will be offered in Methods of Teaching Chinese Language and Culture, Education Management, and Artificial Intelligence and Educational Technologies.

The branch's diploma will be directly recognized in Uzbekistan. Outstanding graduates will be offered the opportunity to continue their education on a grant basis at leading universities and complete internships at prestigious organizations in China.

Currently, 38 major projects with Chinese investors are being implemented in the Khorezm region, with a total value of $2.343 billion. These projects require qualified specialists proficient in modern technologies and the Chinese language. The new educational complex and the Confucius Institute are designed to ensure the training of personnel who meet these requirements.
