An agreement on projects worth 395 million dollars was signed between "JSC NBU" and the "Silk Road" Fund
Cooperation with international financial institutions in financing major infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan is expanding. Within this framework, "JSC NBU" reached an agreement with the Silk Road Fund of China on financing projects worth up to 395 million US dollars.
The agreement was signed within the framework of the high-level visit of the delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
This document was formalized within the framework of the 11th summit of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative held in Hong Kong on September 9–10. The summit was organized as an important international platform for discussing new directions of investment and financial cooperation.
According to the agreement, "NBU" and the Silk Road Fund will jointly select promising infrastructure projects planned for implementation in Uzbekistan, evaluate them, and develop financing mechanisms. Subsequently, it is planned to finance the selected projects through long-term credit lines of the Silk Road Fund.
Within the framework of cooperation, special attention will be paid to the modernization of transport infrastructure. In particular, projects related to the construction of modern toll highways will be one of the priority directions.
This agreement also aligns with the work being carried out within the framework of the State Investment Program for 2026. According to it, "NBU" is tasked with attracting a total equivalent of 1.5 billion US dollars from leading international financial institutions for the implementation of priority investment projects in Uzbekistan.
The new agreement reached with the Silk Road Fund is expected to serve to further expand financial and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and China. It will also create new opportunities for the implementation of concrete investment projects within the framework of the Uzbekistan-China strategic partnership, including the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
For reference, "JSC NBU" was established in 1991 and is one of the largest systematically important banks in the country. According to the results of 2025, the bank's assets exceeded 12 billion US dollars, the loan portfolio exceeded 9 billion dollars, and the total capital exceeded 1.6 billion dollars. The bank's net profit amounted to 160 million US dollars.
The Silk Road Fund is a state investment fund of the People's Republic of China, established in 2014 to support investment projects within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
