The Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund has approved 37 projects totaling over $100 million, creating approximately 900 new jobs, according to Dunyo News Agency, citing a statement by Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev.

The minister noted that the fund finances projects in various sectors of the economy, including the textile industry, energy, logistics, manufacturing, utilities infrastructure, and public transportation modernization.

Kulubayev described the activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund as a successful example of practical cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that the fund's work is developing against the backdrop of the overall strengthening of economic ties between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Since the beginning of 2026, mutual trade between the countries has increased by 45%, reaching $624.6 million.

The Uzbekistan-Kyrgyz Development Fund was established based on an agreement signed by the governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on March 11, 2021, in Tashkent. The document entered into force after ratification at the end of that year. The decree of the President of Uzbekistan ratifying the agreement was signed on November 3, 2021.

The official opening and launch of the fund took place on April 14, 2022, in Bishkek. Its main goal is to finance joint investment projects in industry, agriculture, transport, and other key economic sectors.

The fund's objectives include promoting economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, modernizing and developing the Kyrgyz economy, and more effectively leveraging opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

The fund also aims to create favorable conditions for mutual trade, increase its volume, diversify the structure of trade, and develop long-term forms of economic cooperation.

Financing is provided to self-sustaining projects in priority sectors of the Kyrgyz economy. To this end, the fund may issue loans, participate in capital, and use other financial instruments in relation to economic entities registered and operating in Kyrgyzstan.
