A young man who took his neighbor's car to go to his beloved was sentenced to 6 years in prison

The 22-year-old young man from Qiziltepa was a 4th-year student at Karshi State Technical University. At night, he drove off in his neighbor's Nexia car without permission to go to the girl he loved. "If I had known he was the one who took my car, I wouldn't have called '102'," the owner of the Nexia said in court. This was because the young man had previously been driving the car within the neighborhood with the owner's permission.

Young man who took his neighbor's car to go to his beloved sentenced to 6 years in prison

In the Qiziltepa district of Navoiy region, a student was sentenced to deprivation of liberty for driving his neighbor's car without his permission.

According to the court document, 22-year-old Oʻ.B. was a 4th-year student at Karshi State Technical University.

On the night of March 26, 2024, the young man spoke with his girlfriend on the phone. The girl told him that she wanted to end their relationship. Angered by this, Oʻ.B. decided to go to the girl, namely to the city of Karshi.

For this purpose, on March 27 at around 2:00 AM, he drove away his neighbor H.B.'s Nexia car without his permission. The car door had been left unlocked with the key inside.

Oʻ.B. drove the car and entered the Muborak district at around 4:30 AM. Then, from there, he headed towards the home of his friend E., who lives in the Kasbi district. At around 5:00 AM, he arrived at his friend's house and lay down to sleep to rest.

When he woke up, he saw that his uncle had sent a message saying that the police officers were looking for him and the car. Then, fearing that the police officers would catch him in the city of Karshi, he left the car in the parking lot of a diner in the Muborak district.

"I ate at the diner, left the car there, and reached the city of Karshi by taxi. But because the police officers were looking for me, I did not go to my girlfriend. I was afraid that they would involve her in the investigation as well. I spent that night on the street. The next day, my uncle found me in the city of Karshi, brought me to the Muborak district, and handed me over to the officers of the Qiziltepa district Department of Internal Affairs.

I drove the car myself, my friend has nothing to do with this. The car was parked on the street, and I also had one key to it. The neighbor himself had given me the key. Previously, I had been driving this car with H.B.'s consent. On that day, because H.B. was asleep, I drove it without asking and without warning him," the young man said in his court testimony.

Oʻ.B. stated that neither he nor his friend had any intention of selling his neighbor's car.
